Predicting Grain Protein Content of Winter Wheat

چکیده
The objective of this paper is to propose to use a new Improved Particle Filtering (IPF) based on minimizing Kullback-Leibler divergence for crop models' predictions. The performances of the method are compared with those of the conventional Particle Filtering (PF) at a complex crop model (AZODYN) to predict an important winter-wheat quality criterion, namely the grain protein content. Furthermore, the effect of measurement noise (e.g., different signal-to-noise ratios) on the performances of PF and IPF is investigated. The results of the comparative studies show that the IPF provides a significant improvement over the PF because, unlike the PF which depends on the choice of sampling distribution used to estimate the posterior distribution, the IPF yields an optimum choice of the sampling distribution, which also accounts for the observed data. The efficiency of IPF is expressed in terms of estimation accuracy (root mean square error).

The content of Fusarium mycotoxins, grain yield and quality of winter wheat cultivars under organic and conventional cropping systems
Nine cultivars of winter wheat were compared in organic and conventional crop rotation systems. Bread-making quality was evaluated using three parameters [thousand-kernel weight (TKW) in g, volume weight in g/l, protein content in %]. Grain yield, TKW and protein content of winter wheat in organic cropping system were significantly lower as compared to any intensity in conventional cropping sys...
متن کاملPredicting Biomass and Grain Protein Content Using Bayesian Methods
This paper deals with the problem of predicting biomass and grain protein content using Improved Particle Filtering (IPF) based on minimizing Kullback-Leibler divergence. The performances of improved particle filtering are compared with those of the conventional Particle Filtering (PF) in two comparative studies. In the first one, we apply IPF and PF at a simple dynamic crop model with the aim ...
متن کاملMonitoring Winter Wheat Maturity By Hyperspectral Vegetation Indices
It is very important to harvest wheat in optimum time which greatly affects grain quality, mainly referred to as protein content in the research. Because either too early harvest shortens grain-filling process or too late harvest leads to yield losses and poor quality caused by high grain respiration rate in dry and hot wind weather and sprouting in rainy weather. Research was conducted during ...
متن کاملStudy of Zinc effects on quantitative and qualitative traits of winter wheat in saline soil condition
An experiment was conducted to optimize consumption of Zinc and evaluate of Zinc effects on quantitative and qualitative traits of winter wheat under saline soil condition. It was done by three replications in randomized complete block design. The experiment had four treatments as Control without Zn, 40 Kg.ha-1 Zn as ZnSO4, 80 Kg.ha-1 Zn as ZnSO4 in soil and 120 Kg.ha-1 Zn as ZnSO4 in soil. Ele...

By contrast, winter wheats showed higher 21 Zn-grain concentrations than spring genotypes. 22 Within spring wheat, a strongly significant positive 23 correlation was found between Fe and Zn. Grain 24 protein content was also significantly (P < 0.001) 25 correlated with grain Zn and Fe...
